ROBERT SLACK --
Robert Slack studied with world renown trumpet master William Adam receiving his Masters in Trumpet performance from Indiana University.
He shares with his students and faculty impressive personal and professional experience, including several years touring with Paul Anka and Buddy Rich, performing in Las Vegas showrooms and recording in Los Angeles studios. Additional performances include Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Ella Fitzgerald, Liza Minnelli, Kenny Rogers, Julio Iglesias, Arturo Sandoval, Mel Torme, The Spinners, The O’Jays, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Trisha Yearwood and Sammy Nestico to name a few.
Other experience include numerous recording sessions for Mattel, Toyota, Diet Coke, Pillsbury, Ford Motor, Taco Bell, Tristar Pictures, Disneyland, NBC News and CNN. Film credits include Disney’s D3: The Mighty Ducks, Casper, Dillinger and Capone, dozens of HBO Films, Warner Bros. cartoons, and the hit movie, That Thing You Do! He has also performed twice for President Ronald Reagan once at the White House and for CBS Television Command Performance “An Evening at Ford’s Theater.”
He's received numerous awards including the coveted Jazz Educator of the Year Award from the International Jazz Educator’s Association, the Paul Harris Fellow Rotary award for exemplary educators. Plus, honorary awards from the Major of Honolulu,Hawaii and the governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie as well as the Grammy Foundation.
As a Conn-Selmer Bach Artist, he maintains a busy performing, teaching and clinic schedule. Additionally, as the former Dean of the Visual and Performing Arts Division he guided and developed an exemplary entertainment arts program implementing professional training opportunities for domestic and international students attending Citrus College.
